Congratulations ... to seventeen new technology teachers who completed the CCSU program in the 2007-08 year! Five of these students graduated with honors: Bill Notation (Summa Cum Laude); Nick Piotrowski, Carey Poetzsch, and Jeff Teravainen (Magna Cum Laude); and Rick Strid (Cum Laude).

China!

A CCSU technology education major begins a semester in China this week, as two of our faculty arrive in a neighboring province for a two-week exchange program.

Junior John McCandless is studying at Northwest University in Xi'an, China. Over the past month, he visited Hong Kong, Beijing, and Shanghai, and traveled through Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia. Let Foster know if you would like to get in touch with John.

Meanwhile, two of our facultyDepartment Chair James Delaura and Assistant Professor Michele Dischino left on March 2 for a two-week trip to China with 17 high-schoolers from Hartford. The program is hosted jointly by the Center for 21st Century Skills and the Ningxia, China Board of Education. [3/3/08]

Here are their names, along with their placements for the first eight weeks. After midterm, each student-teacher will be assigned a high school at which they will teach for eight more weeks. CCSU hosts Electrathon advisors meeting on January 16, for the fourth consecutive year, Connecticut electrathon advisors held their annual meeting at Copernicus Hall. Among the attendees were three members of the Electrathon America national Board of Directors, including Mike Grella, who has coordinated the Connecticut event since its inception, and representatives from Massachusetts and New York. The advisors also met with five CCSU students representing both TECA and the Electrathon safety inspection teams. We will post the date of the Spring Electrathon here as soon as it's available!
