First Year Advising Guide

1. Know your goals.

During your first few semesters, you’ll focus on the milestone of professional acceptance. A later goal will be success in student teaching.

2. Keep up the grades.

Know your GPA. Learn to estimate your grade in each course you’re taking. There are additional requirements after professional acceptance.

3. Get involved.

Join TECA. Volunteer for the Electrathon, TSA, or FIRST Lego League. Participate at Virginia Beach. Attend a CTEA or CTELC meeting. Don’t get left behind!

4. Observe deadlines.

Pay close attention to application deadlines: late submission will delay your graduation by at least one semester.
