employment outlook for technology teachers Over the past ten years, CCSU has graduated 180 new technology teachers. But the demand for technology educators continues to rise. For the 2008-2009 school year, technology education was again declared a “Teacher Shortage Area” by the Connecticut Commissioner of Education. Since 2002, it has been designated among the “subjects with a shortage of teachers” by the Connecticut Board of Governors for Higher Education. By 2016, Connecticut schools are expected to employ 3,387 more K-12 teachers (not including Special Education) than they did in 2006. Salaries. According to the Federal Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average Connecticut teacher earned $63,290 in 2007 (the most recent year for which data is available). The Connecticut Department of Labor reports that last year, the entry-level salary of beginning teachers in the state was $45,869. |
